From the A24 trademark of innovative and visually rip-roaring epics, Ozzie has much work to do in order to steal the audience’s heart. It does promise an ocean of emo depth, adventure, and visuals within the film. Written and directed by Isiah Saxon himself in his debut feature, it comes on February 28, 2025.

Plot Synopsis
The Legend of Ochi is set in a far-off northern town where a small child called Yuri is reared under rigorous instructions not to leave after dark. Her family worries about enigmatic species called the “ochi,” who call the nearby woodland home. Yuri comes across a newborn ochi split from its group one unfortunate day and sets upon an exciting search to bring the critter back to her family. Yuri becomes particularly close to the baby ochi as the trip progresses, exposing themes of companionship, exploration, and conquering anxiety.
Combining fantasy with adventure, this movie provides a visual and emotional journey of a little girl’s development and her perspective of the animals around her. More than a children’s story, Isaiah Saxon’s narrative explores deeper themes of connection and bravery using the bond between Yuri and the ochi, therefore resonating with audiences of all ages.

Production and Location Observations
The video was shot in a number of breathtaking places in the country, including Apuseni Mountains and Bâlea Lake, as well as the Transfăgărășan Road, among many other breathtaking scenery locations all around Romania. These absolutely stunning locations provide even more lonely mystery to Yuri’s universe, justifying a fantasy-infused movie with nature. The Romanian landscape of rocks gives the movie an authentic, almost legendary quality as Yuri and her new friend navigate through the environment.
Principal photography on the movie started last November 2021 and has already finished on December of the same year. Among the places where the shooting was done is Romania’s Castel Film Studios, which is already well-behown to stage other foreign productions.

The ochi monsters come alive in this film, done via puppetry, animatronics, and also with some added computer-generated imagery. Isaiah Saxon created The Legend of Ochi as a real and artistic work.
